A panel discussion titled “The Impact of AI on Education and the Development of Engineering Talent” was held at the Science Technology Park Belgrade, focusing on the changes artificial intelligence is bringing to education, engineering practice, and the development of future engineers’ skills and competencies.
Panelists Prof. Ana Deletić, Dr Anja Ranđelović, Mihajlo Kovačević, and Dr Jelica Cincović discussed how the rapid development and growing adoption of AI technologies are shaping the knowledge and skills expected of future engineers, as well as how the education system can respond to accelerating technological change. The discussion was moderated by Dr Veljko Prodanović, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia.
The discussion addressed the competencies that are becoming increasingly important in modern engineering, opportunities to enhance and adapt educational programmes, and the need for stronger links between academia and industry. Particular attention was given to the ways AI is changing how we learn, conduct research, and approach engineering problems.
The panel also explored the broader role of education in preparing engineers for a continuously evolving technological environment — from developing technical knowledge and digital competencies to fostering critical thinking and the responsible use of AI tools.
The event was organised in collaboration with the DIGIDRAIN project, as part of the activities of the Blue-Green AI Hub within the ARTIFACT project.
