The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia hosted participants of a summer school organised as part of the Horizon project “Tallheda – Transforming Access to Excellence with Successful Alliances of Higher Education in Digital Agriculture”, implemented at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad.
The summer school brought together students from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad, and its partner institution, the Agricultural University of Athens. The programme aimed to introduce participants to topics in digital agriculture and the application of emerging technologies in the biotechnical sciences through lectures, knowledge exchange, and exposure to contemporary research practices.
During their visit to IVI, participants were introduced to the Institute’s work and research areas, with a particular focus on the application of artificial intelligence in the biotechnical sciences. Presentations were delivered by Dr Vladimir Udovičić, Acting Director of IVI, Research Associates Dr Ivana Krtolica and Dr Karlo Bala, and Research Assistant Luka Vinokić.
Through the presentations, participants had the opportunity to learn about different aspects of artificial intelligence research and development, as well as the potential of AI methods to address challenges relevant to modern agriculture and the biotechnical sciences.
The visit gave students an opportunity to gain first-hand insight from researchers into the work of a research institution, its ongoing research activities, and the ways in which artificial intelligence can contribute to addressing real-world challenges across different fields.
The visit also highlighted the importance of connecting education, research, and the application of emerging technologies, while creating an opportunity for knowledge exchange between students and researchers. The meeting further demonstrated the potential of artificial intelligence to support the development of digital agriculture and new approaches in the biotechnical sciences.
