World leaders in the field of artificial intelligence are coming to Novi Sad!

Google’s company “DeepMind,” in collaboration with the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, is organizing the Eastern European Machine Learning (EEML) Summer School dedicated to key topics in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence, and invites all interested parties to apply for this unique one-week event.

“I am extremely pleased that the Eastern European Machine Learning (EEML) Summer School will be held in Serbia next summer! EEML is the most prestigious school of artificial intelligence and machine learning for the Eastern European region, regularly attracting renowned world-class lecturers. The presence of prestigious lecturers from Oxford, New York University, Montreal University, the University of Belgrade, Microsoft Research, and Google DeepMind, a long-term partner of EEML, has already been confirmed for the event in Serbia. This event is an excellent opportunity to strengthen Serbia’s position in the world of artificial intelligence, through highly interesting lectures by globally recognized experts, carefully designed workshops that will translate theoretical concepts into implemented systems, and a significant opportunity for networking and collaboration with artificial intelligence experts from around the world,” says Dr. Petar Velickovic, a Research Scientist at Google’s company “DeepMind” and a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia.

During the summer, Novi Sad becomes the epicenter of intensive training, bringing together experts and enthusiasts from the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence from around the world, offering them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills.

“It is a great pleasure for me to announce that an event like EEML is coming to Serbia and my hometown, Novi Sad. EEML is unrivaled in the region, encompassing Eastern and Southeastern Europe, and there are few schools that can compare with it on a global level. For me, this is a testament to the impact of our young colleagues on the global stage of research and development in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), their dedication to nurturing future experts, and the fact that Serbia already has a strong local community engaged in this topic and institutions that can support the organization of such events. After two and a half years of work on the development of the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia (IVI), I am proud that we can support EEML as a partner and contribute to the development of the regional and global AI ecosystem. If you are planning a career in the field of AI, Novi Sad is the place to be in mid-July 2024,” says Acting Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Dubravko Culibrk.

Summer School of Machine Learning – Challenge and Opportunity

The main goal of the EEML Summer School is to popularize topics in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence throughout Europe, especially in Eastern Europe, and to encourage research in this domain. EEML is committed to equality and diversity and aims to enhance access to education for all interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence.

This one-week summer school is conducted in English and provides an opportunity for students and enthusiasts to delve deeper into the theoretical and practical aspects of these increasingly important fields.

Vision for the Future

The Eastern European Machine Learning (EEML) Summer School represents a step forward in creating a global community of artificial intelligence and machine learning enthusiasts. Through the exchange of ideas, experiences, and innovations, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia and the “DeepMind” company hope to advance the development of this technology and inspire future generations of researchers.

The EEML Summer School will be held from July 15 to 20, 2024, in Novi Sad, and participants can expect not only a wealth of knowledge but also the opportunity to forge lasting connections with like-minded individuals from around the world.
