Innovative Prediction and Detection Systems Enhance the Performance of Serbia’s Power Grid

The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia and the Mihajlo Pupin Institute have successfully developed and deployed an advanced system for multi-day inflow prediction for the Drina-Lim basin. This innovative system, powered by machine learning algorithms, leverages a combination of current and historical hydrological and meteorological data to provide precise and reliable forecasts of inflows at pre-defined locations.

The implementation of this system significantly contributes to optimizing production planning and maintenance within Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS). Accurate inflow predictions enable more efficient management of electricity production and minimize the risk of damage caused by sudden flood waves, thereby enhancing the resilience and security of the power grid.

In addition to this project, another key initiative is currently underway, focusing on modeling plant operations within power facilities to detect anomalies and improve operational safety. Both projects will be integrated into the PROTIS platform – the central system for monitoring and managing Serbia’s power infrastructure.

The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia proudly contributes to the development of cutting-edge solutions that improve the performance, security, and sustainability of the country’s power system.
