IVI at the Conference “Public Service Media and Artificial Intelligence”

Organized by Radio Television of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, the event titled “Public Service Media and Artificial Intelligence” was held, focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence on the media sector and the key challenges public service media face in the process of digital transformation. The event is implemented within the EU program “Innovation. Media. Minds”.

The gathering brought together representatives of relevant national and international institutions, including the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, institutions of the European Union, the Goethe Institute, DW Akademie, EBU Academy, as well as representatives of public service media from the region.

The Acting Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, Dr. Vladimir Udovičić, addressed the participants, speaking about the role of artificial intelligence in transforming the media ecosystem, as well as the development of responsible and sustainable models for the application of AI technologies in public information services.

During the discussions, it was highlighted that artificial intelligence is already significantly influencing the processes of media production, processing, and distribution, including archiving, subtitling, search, and content personalization, as well as the ways in which audiences consume information. A particular focus was placed on issues of ethics, transparency, copyright protection, and the preservation of professional journalistic standards in the context of rapid technological transformation.

Participants also discussed opportunities for cooperation between public service media, research institutions, and the technology sector, with the aim of developing innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence, including the development of domestic language models and advanced speech and text processing tools.

The participation of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia in this event represents another contribution to strengthening cooperation between the scientific research community and the media sector, as well as to advancing the responsible application of artificial intelligence in areas of public interest.
