Expert Training on Urban Flood 2D Modeling Successfully Held Under ARTIFACT Project

The second online Expert Training within the Horizon Europe TWINNING project ARTIFACT (Artificial Intelligence for Flood-Resilient Infrastructure) was successfully conducted via Zoom.

This training focused on modern approaches to 2D flood modeling in urban environments, emphasizing data collection and processing, as well as the application of models in real-world conditions. Participants had the opportunity to explore topics such as:

  • Data collection and processing for 2D flood modeling
  • Application of 2D flood models through practical case studies
  • Interactive discussion and Q&A sessions

The primary objectives of the training were to familiarize participants with the fundamental concepts of data preparation for flood modeling and to demonstrate the practical application of urban flood modeling tools, such as Mike+, using real-world examples.

Lectures were delivered by Prof. Dr. Zoran Vojinović (Delft Institute for Water Education) and Dr. Nataša Manojlović (Hamburg University of Technology), with Prof. Dr. Zoran Kapelan (Delft University of Technology) serving as the session moderator.

Throughout the training, participants actively engaged in discussions and Q&A sessions, gaining deeper insights into practical modeling approaches and contemporary challenges in urban flood resilience.

This event continues the ARTIFACT project’s mission to strengthen research collaboration and advance the development of AI-supported, flood-resilient infrastructure.
