Junior researchers from the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, Dr. Gorana Gojić, Jelena Tešić, Jelena Petković, and Mladen Milić took part in this year’s Eastern European Machine Learning Summer School (EEML), one of the most important regional events in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence. For the first time, the event was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EEML 2025 brought together leading global experts, renowned researchers, industry representatives, hundreds of young scientists, PhD candidates, students, and AI enthusiasts from around the world. Over the six-day program, participants attended lectures and tutorials covering the most current topics in machine learning, engaged in hands-on workshops, and networked with peers through numerous discussion sessions and collaborative activities.
The EEML school offers a unique platform for exchanging knowledge and experience, fostering international collaboration, and empowering a new generation of AI talent. Its mission — to strengthen the AI ecosystem in Eastern Europe and provide opportunities for young researchers from the region to work alongside the world’s leading experts — is of particular significance.
We thank the organizers — the team of scientists from Google DeepMind and the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology in Bosnia and Herzegovina — for an outstanding event, flawless organization, and warm hospitality. The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia is proud to actively participate in initiatives like EEML, contributing to the creation of an inclusive and open community that is shaping the future of artificial intelligence in Eastern Europe and beyond.
