We are proud to announce that a scientific paper co-authored by researchers from the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, senior research associate Dr. Dragiša Mišković and research associate Dr. Ognjen Kundačina, has been selected for the prestigious Editor’s Choice collection, which highlights leading contemporary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and lab-on-a-chip technologies.
The paper, titled “Advancing microfluidic design with machine learning: a Bayesian optimization approach”, introduces an innovative method for designing microfluidic mixers using Bayesian optimization. The proposed framework enables the identification of optimal geometries at least an order of magnitude faster than conventional optimization methods, without the need for separate surrogate models.
This result represents a significant contribution to the development of more efficient and intelligent microfluidic systems, with potential applications in biomedicine, chemical analysis, and advanced laboratory devices.
The Editor’s Choice collection, available for free access for three months, features papers demonstrating how artificial intelligence accelerates device design, enhances data analysis, and enables the development of intelligent lab-on-a-chip systems.
