IVI Participates in the “UK–Serbia Science and Innovation Fellowship” Program

The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia is part of this year’s cycle of the UK–Serbia Science and Innovation Fellowship program, represented by our research associate Dr. Adela Ljajić. The program is an initiative of the British Council, implemented with financial support from the British Embassy in Serbia, aiming to enhance governance, transparency, and collaboration within the national science and innovation ecosystem.

The UK–Serbia Science and Innovation Fellowship is designed as a platform for sharing best practices from the United Kingdom, connecting key stakeholders ranging from research institutes and universities to science and technology parks and the private sector. Dr. Ljajić participated in a seven-day study visit to the UK to gain first-hand insight into British models of innovation management and science policy development, while a four-week mentorship phase will focus on developing proposals to strengthen Serbia’s innovation ecosystem.

The program’s main areas of focus include improving research commercialization, fostering stronger links between academia and industry, and promoting ethical approaches to innovation and open data policies. Particular emphasis is placed on empowering women leaders in innovation and ensuring balanced regional development through systematic networking of national innovation bodies.

Through participation in this initiative, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia continues to strengthen its institutional capacities and expand international collaborations. The program also aims to establish a sustainable alumni network that will enable continuous knowledge exchange and cooperation between Serbian and UK institutions, contributing to the long-term sustainable development of science and innovation in Serbia and the broader Western Balkans region.
