{"id":3121,"date":"2025-05-15T05:27:41","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T05:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ivi.ac.rs\/?post_type=news&#038;p=3121"},"modified":"2025-05-28T05:29:41","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T05:29:41","slug":"artificial-intelligence-as-an-ally-in-advancing-health-and-society","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ivi.ac.rs\/en\/news\/artificial-intelligence-as-an-ally-in-advancing-health-and-society\/","title":{"rendered":"Artificial Intelligence as an Ally in Advancing Health and Society"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dr. Branka Raki\u0107, team lead of the research group for AI in healthcare and lifescience, participated in the session <strong>\u201cVoices of Innovation \u2013 Q&amp;A on Serbia AI Use in the Public Sector,\u201d<\/strong> held as part of the presentation of the <strong>UNDP Human Development Report for 2025<\/strong> at the Palace of Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, Dr. Raki\u0107 discussed specific examples of how artificial intelligence is being applied in the healthcare sector, as well as the importance of responsible data use and a multidisciplinary approach in the development of decision-support tools and initiatives aimed at improving quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest UNDP report, <strong>\u201cA Matter of Choice: People and Possibilities in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,\u201d<\/strong> recognizes AI as a key tool for sustainable development, despite slowing global progress and rising inequalities. Serbia is ranked <strong>62nd out of 193 countries<\/strong> with a Human Development Index of <strong>0.833<\/strong>, placing it among countries with a <strong>very high level of human development<\/strong>. Innovations in AI are seen as a significant contributor to further progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia<\/strong> is actively involved in this process by developing innovative digital tools and systems based on AI that align with global sustainable development goals.
