Reality through the eyes of big data

The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia is one of the event’s partners this year, and the May Month of Mathematics event was formally launched in Silos Belgrade.

The Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Dr. Jelena Begovic, Acting Director of the Center for the Promotion of Science, Dr. Marjana Brkic, Director of SANU’s Mathematics Institute, Dr. Zoran Ognjanovic, acting director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, prof. Dr. Dubravko Culibrk, director of the BioSens Institute, prof. Dr. Vladimir Crnojevic and Danijela Vucicević, head of the Program Activities Sector of CPS and program director of the M3 event addressed the audience at the opening of M3.

M3 demonstrates the use of enormous quantities of data in practical applications such as computer analysis of human emotions in real time using artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, the impact and prevention of various diseases, and the live display of climate change predictions from satellites using big data.

Aside from the computer analysis of human emotions using artificial intelligence, IVI researchers also showed the computer design of proteins, which is a very effective tool in modern molecular biology and chemistry research.

This year’s May month of mathematics will showcase how big data is employed in everyday life, as well as in the most diverse disciplines of science and economy, as well as in medicine and healthcare. The event seeks to demonstrate the advanced use of data and further education of children and teenagers of school age, as well as their orientation toward “healthy” scientific foundations and the use of new technologies, smartphones, social networks, and artificial intelligence tools.
